Frequently asked questions

What is GuessCountry?

GuessCountry is a free website with five daily geography games on an interactive 3D globe: Guess the Country (Classic), World Trivia, Sports World, History World and PinPoint. You can play in any browser on your phone or computer without signing up.

How do you play Guess the Country?

In GuessCountry Classic you type or tap any country on the globe. It lights up in a colour that shows how close you are to the mystery country – warmer means closer – together with the distance in kilometres. Keep guessing until you find it; the fewer guesses, the better your score.

What are the best free geography games like Worldle, Globle or GeoGuessr?

If you like Globle, try GuessCountry Classic (hot and cold colours by distance). If you like GeoGuessr, try PinPoint (find the exact spot of a place). For geography trivia, try World Trivia, Sports World and History World. All are free daily games with an unlimited practice mode.

Is there a daily 'on this day in history' game?

Yes – PinPoint. Every day it shows five real places connected to events that happened on today's date in history. You find each place on the map, and after your answer you read the story of what happened there.

Is GuessCountry free to play?

Yes. Every game is completely free and you can play instantly in your browser – no registration, no download.

When does the daily challenge reset?

A new daily challenge for every game starts at midnight UTC. Everyone in the world plays the same questions on the same day, so you can compare scores with friends.

What is the difference between Daily and Practice mode?

Daily mode gives you one round per game per day and counts towards your streak. Practice mode lets you play unlimited rounds, choose Easy, Medium or Hard, and never repeats questions you have already seen.

How is my score calculated?

In World Trivia, Sports World and History World you earn up to 200 points per question – a tap inside the right country gives the full 200, otherwise the points drop with the distance. Five questions make 1000 points, and in the daily challenge a speed bonus of up to +20 per question (for fast, accurate answers) takes the maximum to 1100. You have 60 seconds per daily question. In PinPoint you see the name of a place and drop a pin on the exact spot: within 25 km you get the full 200 points, and each answer unlocks the story of what happened there on this day in history. In Classic, the fewer guesses you need to find the secret country, the higher your score.

How does my streak work?

Finish at least one daily challenge every day to keep your streak alive. Your streak and statistics are saved on your device.

Does it work on my phone?

Absolutely. GuessCountry is designed mobile-first – spin the globe with your finger and tap countries to answer.
